LunaSea Pool Bar & Grill is a guest favorite for casual poolside dining at The Somerset on Grace Bay! Recently, we’ve given our beloved pool bar a new look for guests to enjoy. Among the changes, we’ve put in new windows allowing for fresh breezes to brush your face as you enjoy your meal or drink. There are two grocery stores that are easily accessible by bike or rental car, but we also offer a pre-arrival shopping service to have your kitchen stocked upon your arrival. Dining at Pavilion is an experience to be treasured. With live entertainment, drink specials or our famed Tuesday night Beach BBQ, each night offers a new culinary experience. On Mondays, enjoy lively entertainment from The “Island’s Best DJ” as well as a variety of culinary delights. The theme is Tacos & Tapas, which is a guest favorite. Tacos are prepared with chicken, steak or shrimp, and there is a selection of appetizing tapas to choose from. February is the month of love, flowers, and most importantly, chocolate! To celebrate everyone’s favorite indulgence, The Somerset participated in Turks & Caicos’ 8th Annual Chocolate Lover’s Competition. The island’s best chefs competed with sweet and savory chocolate-inspired dishes. The Somerset Executive Chef Brad Townsend and Pavilion Pastry Chef Mercedes Fernandez prepared Lobster Stuffed Agnolotti, with a Champagne, white chocolate cream sauce. Their culinary talent and creativity delighted many guests, and The Somerset team took home the gold title for the Savory Division. The event benefited the Salvation Army and its school hot-lunch program. We were honored to support such an important cause, and had a wonderful time participating!
Bight Park is the place to be on Thursday night for island visitors and local residents alike, as food vendors, entertainers and cultural acts come together for the Island Fish Fry. This event is truly the culmination of “all things TCI.” Be sure to try our nation’s signature dish – the conch! The Conch Salad from the vendor “Froggies” comes highly recommended by many guests. The highlight of the Fish Fry occurs after the sun sets, with a performance by the local Junkanoo with colorful costumes, plumed feathers and lively music. Cultural acts are interspersed throughout the evening, including performances by dancers from the Edward Garland Youth Centre – the local organization that The Somerset supports. Although our rum-based drink is best paired with warm Grace Bay sunshine, you can also make it from the convenience of home by following this simple recipe: Ingredients 1 oz Cachaca Rum ¼ oz White Bambara Rum Dash of Strawberry Puree Dash of Club Soda 3 slices of fresh strawberries (for garnish) 1 slice of lime (for garnish) Directions Poured over ice cubes in a highball glass and garnish with lime and a slice of fresh strawberries.
