2013 “Sea”ster Hunt a success!
Good Friday, March 29, 2013, on beautiful Grace Bay Beach in Turks and Caicos, dawned partly cloudy, but soon gave way to the brilliant sunshine for which the islands are renowned. Many were visiting us in the Turks and Caicos on family vacations from cooler climes such as North Carolina and New England gathered seaside for the 2nd Annual Somerset “Sea”ster Hunt.
Earlier in the week, the children had painted “Easter Eggs” (ocean rocks) with Kaye Ann, Director of The Somerset’s Caicos Kids Club.
On the morning of the hunt, the beautifully decorated rocks were hurled into the ocean by the youngsters. Then, with the help of snorkel-clad Dads (and a few Moms), the children made their way into the waters of Grace Bay to retrieve as many “eggs” as they could gather.
Amidst great encouragement, the family who turned in the most “Sea”ster eggs emerged triumphant: the Ellisons, from Somers, New York. Remarkably, they were REPEAT champions, having also aced the inaugural Somerset “Sea”ster Hunt in 2012. Congratulations to Dan, Amy, Henry and Ruby! The Ellisons were awarded the coveted mounted Conch Shell in honor of their achievement, as well as having their names added – for the second time – to the permanent trophy on display in our lobby.
We are sure to see them again next year as they continue to defend their title as “Sea”ster Hunt champs. Are you up for the challenge?
