Parents and kids who have experienced the Kids Club for themselves know: It’s the program coordinator, Ms. Sharon, who makes the Kids Club so special for guests.

“They’re my little hearts,” says Ms. Sharon, who started the kids program in 2017 after previously babysitting for families staying at the hotel. “I’m telling you, I love those kids. I wouldn’t exchange my work for anything else.”

And her love for children and dedication to the Kids Club shows. Ms. Sharon will memorize the names of all the children staying on property at any given time, and she takes the time to ensure each one feels special. And with so many repeat guests, Ms. Sharon has the opportunity to see many children grow as they return each year.

That’s why families will stay in touch with her long after they’ve left the Turks and Caicos. It’s why, Ms. Sharon says, one child who first came to the Caicos Kids Club when she was 8 still chooses to come six years later at age 14.

It’s a gratifying feeling for Ms. Sharon, knowing she has such a profound effort on the children who attend the kids program. And once parents realize their kids are in such good hands, she says, it’s easier for them to relax.

“I know the parents can come and have a good time while they’re on vacation. If the child isn’t happy, the parent can’t be happy,” Ms. Sharon says. “I try to do the best I can to make sure the children are happy.”

Ms. Sharon is an active participant in every activity she plans for the kids. Those activities include arts and crafts, jewelry-making, tie dying, games on the beach, treasure hunts and more. And parents can plan for a Friday date night alone, as Ms. Sharon offers a movie night every Friday.

It’s a win-win for everybody—parents, kids and Ms. Sharon included.

Besides Ms. Sharon, the entire staff makes it a point to make children feel welcome during their stay at The Somerset.

“We all love kids,” Ms. Sharon says. “We treat them how kids are supposed to be treated.”
