The Somerset at Grace Bay

Q: How do you arrange airport pick up?

A: Ground transportation may be coordinated via taxi, private SUV or rental car. If you’d like The Somerset to help with arrangements, email the reservations staff with your flight information. The Somerset airport greeter will be prepared for your arrival and can guide you to your transportation.

  • Taxi: $28 for 1-2 people, $14 each additional person.
  • Private SUV: $120 for 1-2 people, and $10 for each additional person.
  • Car Rentals: Make arrangements prior to your stay. Our recommended vendor is Grace Bay Rentals.

Once you’re at the resort, if you want to make transportation arrangements during your stay or for your departure, I’ll be happy to assist.

Somerset SunsetQ. How do you make reservations for the Tuesday night Beach Party BBQ?

A: You may make Beach Party BBQ reservations prior to your stay by emailing us the size of your party and date you plan to attend. However, we always have availability for in-house guests, so you can also coordinate the reservations during your stay. The BBQ buffet is $49 per person or $64 per person with lobster (when in season).

Q. What equipment is available at the resort?

A: Our complimentary kayak, snorkeling gear and bike rentals are based on a first-come-first served basis, and no sign-ups are required.

Q. What is the required attire for Pavilion restaurant or the Monday Manager’s Cocktail Reception?

A: The dress code for Pavilion is resort causal, meaning a collared shirt, dressy shorts or slacks. Ladies can wear dressy sandals, and men should wear closed-toe shoes. Guests tend to go directly to dinner afterwards.

Q. How do you reserve a spot in group fitness classes?

A: The sign-up sheet is located on our desk, and guests are welcome to sign up any time of the day. If you forget to sign up, feel free to still drop in, as we always have availability for in-house guests. Paddleboard Fitness, Pilates by the Pool and Yoga are $25 per class.

Q. Do you have to make reservations for Caicos Kids Club?

A. Yes, guests must sign up 24 hours prior. Kids must be 5 years or older to attend without supervision. The Caicos Kids Club hours are from 10 a.m. – noon and 2 – 4 p.m. and closed on Sunday. The activity schedule is subject to change, and off-property activities (e.g., conch farm visit) require parent accompaniment.

Q. What are the most popular activities to do on-island?

A. The Island Fish Fry on Thursdays and the Tuesday night Beach Party BBQ at The Somerset.

Q. What off-property restaurants do you recommend?

A. While Pavilion has exceptional cuisine and daily specials, we understand our guests want to explore the area and try a variety of restaurants. For off-property dining, I recommend Bay Bistro, Opus, Coco Bistro, Mango Reef, Parallel 23, Bella Luna, Caicos Café, Magnolia’s, Infiniti, Via Vento, 72 West, Hemmingway’s, Mr. Grouper and of course, the Island Fish Fry.

The Somerset Spa

A. Guests can indulge in a couples’ massage at our spa or enjoy private dining on the beach. For a less traditional option, we can arrange a romantic sunset cruise or a private picnic for two on a secluded island.

Q. What vendors does The Somerset recommend?

A. Whether it’s a car service driver or tour operators, the management team and I personally vet every vendor we recommend to our guests. Hi Liz,
Grace Bay Beach is the perfect backdrop for a family photo shoot. Paradise Photography frequently photographs families at our resort and beach – Here is the link to their website: In the navigation bar, select “portraits,” then “photo galleries,” to see examples of family photos taken in Grace Bay and at The Somerset. If you have any more questions, please let us know!

  4. Melodie

Is there a hotel shuttle available?

Also – Is there a recommendation for beach ” dune buggy” rental?

    1. The Somerset Post author

Hi Melodie, We don’t have a hotel shuttle, but we have a Somerset airport greeter who can help coordinate ground transportation via taxi.

There are so many beach activities to choose from, and for a “dune buggy” excursion, we recommend Froggies on the Beach and their four wheeler excursions (ATV’S)!

Let us know if you have any additional questions!

  5. Dan

    Hi Jasmine,
we are coming with a family of 5 and will likely do a lot of off resort activities. would you recommend that we get a rental car $$$, or simply use the taxis to haul us around? thanks

    1. The Somerset Post author

Hi Dan, We’re excited to welcome your family this week! Both are great options – if you choose to go with the rental car, our preferred partner is Grace Bay Rentals. And to provide some perspective on taxis, the cost is about $12 per person each way to the popular Island Fish Fry at Bight Park, or from the airport it’s $28 for 1-2 people and $14 for each additional person.

However, another third option to consider once you are at the resort is biking! We offer complimentary bike rentals at The Somerset, and many activities are within biking distance such as the Potcake Place or Grace Bay Shopping Area.
