Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Kevin Reeder, The Somerset’s new General Manager. Kevin is a life-long hospitality professional by both education and career. He earned both his master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and has worked in the industry for 24 years. Kevin brings executive management experience in resort, special events, salon, spa and winery operations. “I’m privileged to be joining the outstanding team of The Somerset on Grace Bay and to becoming a part of the warm, welcoming Turks & Caicos community,” said Kevin. Kevin has a long history of serving on boards that are close to his heart including his current work with Finger Lakes United Cerebral Palsy and Happiness House. Staff Spotlight: Billy Joe

Billy Joe Williams is our resort’s Guest Services Ambassador and has been a member of The Somerset team for almost 6 years. Ambassador, first class Mr. Williams is no stranger to the travel industry. Prior to joining The Somerset, he worked in guest services and ticketing at the TCI international airport. He has even traveled to American Airline’s Texas headquarters for customer service training. Now, he helps manage The Somerset’s front desk and ensures our guests have a seamless vacation experience. Often, Billy is the first of many friendly faces our guests see. Sometimes, he’ll greet guests at the airport and help coordinate transportation. Other times, he’ll welcome guests at the resort with cool towels and refreshing rum punches. The Somerset Welcomes Tasia Simons as Activities Coordinator

Please join us in welcoming our new Activities Coordinator, Tasia Simons! Tasia joins us from Florida and brings a variety of industry and educational experience to The Somerset. Tasia will plan and implement our Caicos Kids Club activities, and ensure our younger guests create many treasured times. With her bright smile and warm personality, Tasia loves meeting new people and has already developed strong personal connections with many guests. Caicos Kids Club During your stay, join Tasia for Caicos Kids Club fun! Kids ages 5-12 are welcome, and activities are from 10 a.m. to noon and 2-4 p.m. (24-hour advance registration is required.) The program changes daily, but some of the most popular activities include beach games, tie-dye, paper crafts and treasure hunts! Tasia’s priority is helping create fun moments for the entire family. When she answers the phone, you can hear her bright smile as she works with you to help plan your dream vacation. Home Sweet Provo Originally from The Bahamas, Stevonya moved to Turks & Caicos with her family during high school. She quickly fell into an exciting, comfortable rhythm, even meeting a “local guy,” who has since become her husband and the father of her 3-year old son, Joshua. Provo is now the place she calls home, as she has two large families, in-laws, aunts and uncles on the island. Grace Bay is also where her hospitality career took off and has since excelled. We have exciting news to share! The Turks & Caicos Hotel Association (TCHA) has just recognized our managing director Urmas Kärner as the TCI Hotelier of the Year. The Turks & Caicos Hotel Association (TCHA) held its 9th annual Star Awards ceremony this February, recognizing the best of the best in the Turks & Caicos hospitality sector. This highly anticipated ceremony is affectionately known as the islands’ Grammy awards of the industry. Guests dress in elegant attire and enter the event on a red carpet. This year, a record-breaking 147 Star Awards candidates were nominated for more than ten categories.
