Staff Spotlight: Stevonya Cox

Portrait of Stevonya Cox at The Somerset on Grace Bay

If you’ve considered staying at The Somerset, chances are you’ve spoken with Stevonya Cox, our Head Reservationist. When she answers the phone, you can hear her bright smile as she works with you to help plan your dream vacation.

Home Sweet Provo

Originally from The Bahamas, Stevonya moved to Turks & Caicos with her family during high school. She quickly fell into an exciting, comfortable rhythm, even meeting a “local guy,” who has since become her husband and the father of her 3-year old son, Joshua. Provo is now the place she calls home, as she has two large families, in-laws, aunts and uncles on the island.

Grace Bay is also where her hospitality career took off and has since excelled. Prior to joining our team at The Somerset three years ago, Stevonya worked in many Front of House roles at other Grace Bay hotels.

Bringing Visions to Life

Stevonya values her time with fellow team members and visitors, and feels The Somerset offers a great guest experience.

“Some hotels are so big that you never get the one-on-one time with guests,” says Stevonya. “The intimate size of The Somerset allows the team to engage with our guests and help create the ultimate vacation, without leaving anyone out.”

She explains that when the phone rings, you never know who will be on the other end, but everyone has a story to share. Stevonya is truly driven by bringing our guests’ visions to life whether it’s an elderly grandmother’s last wish to enjoy a final family vacation, a widow seeking peace of mind or proud parents celebrating their new college graduate. Some stories are happy, some sad and some exciting, but our driven reservationist gives each caller her undivided attention.

At the end of the day, Stevonya says every moment she’s spent helping someone is memorable and treasured.
